How Darts Burst Into My Life

My first encounter with darts happened in childhood when I accidentally watched a darts match on CCTV5 with my father. The young me became intrigued amidst my innocence. Later, my father crafted a dart for me using wood and nails – my first custom dart.In junior high, a neighborhood convenience store hosted prize darts games where hitting targets earned rewards. My friends and I lingered there after school. To win better prizes, I persuaded my family to buy a simple hard-tip dartboard for practice during holidays. I also realized the store's darts were poor quality, so I sought out a reliable dart to carry with me. That was when I first conceived "darts training" and understood: "A craftsman must sharpen his tools" – a player needs their own well-suited darts.
During my student years, I maintained strong interest in darts. Though without formal access, I never missed broadcasts. Whenever I saw prize darts in parks, I eagerly tried my skills.In 2016, guided by a senior classmate and his wife, I discovered soft-tip darts and became utterly captivated! As soft-tip machines gained popularity in Guangzhou, and with free time during my new bar's renovation, I practically lived in dart halls and pubs daily. There I met kindred spirits and received guidance from fellow players, later joining Mentor Lin Dingzhi's workshop. From then on, joining clubs and teams, I progressed from city leagues to regional opens, then provincial and international competitions. Darts became essential to my life.In 2021, due to universally understood reasons and work, I paused darts. But true passion may pause, never end. In 2023 when clouds cleared, I reclaimed my darts and co-founded a darts-themed bar: Dongguan Lost&Found, reigniting the flame. This bond born from a childhood wooden dart now transcends time and distance.This year, within this enduring bond, I welcomed my most beautiful encounter: Bocheng! Honored to join the Bocheng Elite Team, I believe our partnership will script brighter chapters. The journey continues!

My Life

My life is vibrant and diverse. I enjoy pursuing my passions and strive to grow through them. My resume shows multiple slashes: beyond being a dart player, I'm also a barista, sherry wine steward, mixology mentor, whisky guest lecturer, bar consultant, competition judge, event planner, and more. Professionally, I'm a National Champion Bartender with 14 years of experience, currently managing multiple American-style bars dedicated to cocktail and darts culture: Dongguan Lost&Found and Guangzhou Hunting Tavern. The feelings that darts bring

"Unrestrained action, untrammeled thought, discovering cosmos within inches" – this dart-inspired philosophy has become my creed. My motto "seek truth through darts, aid the world with wine" embodies how this sport molds gentlemen.First, it is a pure contest of self-mastery. On the oche, none may obstruct your throw, move your dart, or make physical contact. Even loud drinking may incur penalties – victory rests solely on oneself. While Cricket allows tactics, traditional 01 games determine throwing order by bullseye contests, testing only fundamentals and mental fortitude. This proves "one's greatest rival is oneself." True sportsmanship seeks not to defeat others, but to transcend the self.Second, darts honors merit over pedigree. It elevates ordinary people to global stages, offering rare fairness. Unlike basketball where height creates insurmountable gaps, diligence prevails here. Requiring neither wealth nor elaborate facilities, it rewards every ounce of effort – success hinges purely on dedication.Yet though born in pubs, darts enforces stricter dress codes than many sports. Being gentlemanly needn't mean exclusivity, but accessibility demands dignity. For gentility springs not from birth, but self-cultivation – darts constantly reminds us to refine our presence.As the bullseye defines our aim, darts reveals our path: details. A millimeter's deviation in release becomes a centimeter's error on the board. World titles hang on landing that final dart within a fingertip's span. "Victory resides in minutiae" – darts eternally testifies.
